Danes are cool just like diamonds,
Chocolate makes them GREAT!

Show people would like the general public to think Chocolate Danes are the "current fad" with some breeders.  The truth is they have been around since the mid-60's. Below are pictures of a chocolate brindle (with a chocolate nose) shown in 1971.  She was eventual disqualified for not having the black nose required for a brindle.  At least her owner was allowed to show this beautiful dog for a short time which proves the colors or not just a fad of today; they've been around for a long time.  I'd also like to mention that Butterscotch came from color pure lines!

From looking at the pictures below, I'd say designer Danes do have good conformation so, I guess they can not compete simply because of their color!  This is the equivalent of the KKK in the dog world and it's a shame the show circuit isn't more evolved than that!

The Chocolate Great Dane Puppy can become a Service & Therapy K-9.
Chocolate Danes can compete in Agility, Rally and Obedience.
Chocolate Great Danes are loving, beautiful, healthy and make wonderful companions.

A chocolate Dane will have a brown nose.
The chocolate Dane has been around since the mid 1960's.
A Dane can be a recessive chocolate and show no outwards signs of carrying the chocolate gene.
There is a DNA test to check your Dane for the chocolate gene or you can research your Dane's pedigree.
Chocolate Danes can be solid chocolate, chocolate harlequin aka choclequin, chocolate merle and even chocolate brindle.
The goal of our breeding program is to breed chocolate Dane to chocolate Dane thus eventually ending up with pure chocolate lines.

Show breeders tell people I'm a backyard breeder/puppy mill simply because of the colors I breed for.  What they don't say/admint is that mantles and harlequins were not always an accepted breed standard color.   So, I guess the breeders that got them recognized were "backyard breeders" too until that point in time they became an accepted color?

For those who think I don't know what I am doing, I am not new to breeding.  I've been breeding dogs on and off since 1991 and cattle since 1996.    I  show our Texas Longhorns when time allows, usually one to three animals in one show a year as I am too busy to show any more than that.

Below is a picture of some of the trophies and ribbons I've won.  Some of the cattle from our breeding program have sold anywhere from $5,000 to $16,000.   I know enough about quality and genetics to produce some really nice cattle and this holds true for my designer Danes as well.  Furthermore, as long as my customers are satisfied with their Designer Danes, then the show people can "kiss my cocoa."

Most show and breed standard breeders either euthanize or abandon their off colored puppies!  We prefer to give them great homes!!  The ironic thing is many of them think the designer colors are beautiful, as they even post on their blogs, and either own one or want to own one.  What hypocrites!

Bottom line, if someone is not interested in showing in conformation classes then why shouldn't they be allowed to have the choice (freedom) to own whatever color of Dane they want to and give a great home?  After all, this is America, land of the FREE!

Although we are primarily concentrating on breeding chocolates we do still produce brindlequins, fawnequins as well as the breed standard colors.
