Franco-Canadian Literature
This course presents Quebec and Franco-Canadian literature from the late twentieth century until present-day. Students will consider the aesthetic originality, the critical reception and socio-historical context of representative works of poetry, theatre, film, short stories, fiction and autofiction by authors from Quebec and Franco-Canadian communities. Topics include the Quiet Revolution, the literary use of joual and chiac, the Francophone diaspora in Canada, women鈥檚 writing, minority and immigrant literatures, postmodernism, exile and marginalization.
