This course explores the institutions of band-level or self-governing Indigenous communities. This includes discussions of the unique municipal-provincial powers of Indigenous communities and the influence of major actors at the 鈥渓ocal鈥� level, including business, labour, and civil society. The course asks how communities at the local level make decisions and implement them under the Indian Act, self-government and public government frameworks 鈥� and how that impacts local communities.
