Creative Writing
Building a portfolio and learning about vast genres, the concentration in creative writing helps guide students towards finding their writer鈥檚 voice.
Students will complete two mandatory courses (ENG 230 Creativity, Writing, and Everyday Life and ENG 517 Techniques and Topics in Creative Writing) along with four elective courses within a range of topics; From Comic Books to Poetry and beyond!
What Is a Concentration?
A Concentration is a structured plan of study within a program (6 to 12 core or professional electives) that provides an opportunity for advanced or in-depth study in a particular area of interest. Students must declare their concentration prior to applying to graduate (Typically done after a student鈥檚 first year of studies).
Courses used to fulfil the requirements of a concentration cannot also be used to fulfil the requirements of a minor.
Concentration in Creative Writing
Students must complete six (6) courses as follows:

One (1) course from Group A: Intermediate Group
Two (2) courses from Group B: Editing/Publishing Group
One (1) course from Group C: Genre Group
