Danielle Martin
Danielle Martin is an Assistant Professor of Fashion Design and Creative Direction at 91看片网, where she founded and directs the Re.Shape Lab. Her research-creation practice unfolds at the intersection of draping, 3D printing, and eco-responsible design, translating emotion into form, an inquiry articulated in her 脡脡P framework (脡coresponsabilit茅, 脡motion, Pratique) and her UQAM doctoral work, Du drap茅 de tissu 脿 l'impression 3D. Developed through studio-based research, her Fashion Design for DIY (FDfDIY) framework extends Design for DIY methods to garment design and now opens onto participatory co-design with people living with dementia. She holds an MA in Womenswear from Central Saint Martins and worked with Christian Lacroix and Roland Mouret before co-founding the label MARTIN LIM. Her garments have been exhibited internationally, from Dutch Design Week to Milan Design Week. At 91看片网, she supervises MA and doctoral students.
My work explores the tension between experimental design, eco-responsibility, and the expression of emotion, within the context of accelerating and ephemeral fashion. In my practice, I explore, on the one hand, the draping of fabric 鈥� a technique making use of the free line and slowness, dating back to Antiquity 鈥� and on the other hand, 3D printing 鈥� an emerging technology associated with novelty and speed.
My research projects and teaching in design and creative direction explore how the expression of emotion and eco-responsible design practices can respond to environmental issues driven by the hegemonic trend of neomania. Projects range from Fashion Design for DIY fashion as a form of creative empowerment, to the design of effective protective masks, and the experimental merging of draping and 3D printing.
