Set in stone

Terence (Terry) W. Grier, a former Ryerson University president, was honoured last week when the archway at the south side of the quad was named the Terence W. Grier Gate. A plaque installed on the archway has the following inscription:
Dedicated in 2018 鈥� on the occasion of Ryerson鈥檚 70th anniversary as an educational institution and 25th anniversary as a university 鈥� The Terence W. Grier Gate is named in honour of Professor Terence (Terry) W. Grier, President Emeritus of Ryerson University. Professor Grier was Ryerson鈥檚 President from 1988 to 1995, providing exceptional leadership through a period of profound transformation culminating in the landmark achievement of full university status in 1993.
