Background and Purpose

Each year in December, 91¿´Æ¬Íø marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, which aligns with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 – December 10).

Beginning in 2025, 91¿´Æ¬Íø inaugurated these two awards to recognize student impact, scholarship, advocacy, and leadership in addressing violence against women, and violence against trans and non-binary people.

1. Graduate Award for Impact in Gender-Based Violence Awareness and Prevention

• 1 annual award of $1,500 
• Eligible: Graduate students (domestic + international, FT or PT, in good academic standing)
• The award winner is invited to attend the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6 to highlight their work and accept their award.

Applicants submit:

• Scholarly work completed at 91¿´Æ¬Íø that demonstrates excellence in research focused on GBV (paper/chapter/publication + 200-word abstract)
• Transcript(s)
• CV/resume
• One letter of support from 91¿´Æ¬Íø faculty/staff or academic supervisor (max 1 page)

2. Undergraduate Award for Commitment in Gender-Based Violence Awareness and Prevention

• 1 annual award of $1,500 
• Eligible: Undergraduate students (domestic + international, FT or PT, in good standing with minimum CGPA 3.0 and minimum 10 credits completed)
• The award winner is invited to attend the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6 to highlight their work and accept their award.

Applicants submit:

• Written statement (max 350 words) describing their studies/work related to GBV
• Transcript(s)
• CV/resume
• One letter of support (max 1 page)
